I miss many things about my mom, but most of all I miss her sense of adventure. She loved to go places on the spur of the moment. It didn’t really matter where. As long as she was in a plane, train, or automobile she was happy. Mom always loved a mystery ride!
That’s why on boring Saturday I love to say to my sister, Joan, “Let’s go for a ride”, and off we go. Sometimes we will head north to NH mountains, Maine coast or south to Rhode Island. We will find someplace new and interesting for lunch, Joan will poke around in the gift shops, and I’ll find someplace to browse. Or maybe we will take a different route and head into the city to a museum or down to Cape Cod to walk the canal. It doesn’t really matter where we end up it is something that breaks us out of the monotony of another boring Saturday.
If it has been a while since escaped from a boring Saturday take a chance and next Saturday just take off. No agenda, no specific destination, just go off for the day and see what fun and different places you find.
