Wanted, everyone who is still alive and kicking but bored to tears doing the exact same things, the same way, at the same time, each and every day!
We have all been in the Zone one time or another, some longer than others. Nothing new or interesting happens when we are in the Zone. Each hour, day, week, month or year is the same routine. If it is Monday it is Laundry Day, Tuesday you do the ironing, and so on and so on!
During the month of May, I am going to give us all a daily suggestion of how to join the comfort zone breakout movement. I hope you find these suggestions useful, fun, and enjoyable. Let me know which ones you try and what you enjoyed.
Friday May 1, 2015
Friday in my family is grocery shopping day because years ago Friday night was the only night Grocery Stores were open! That’s just the way it always has been.
My mother shopped on Friday’s, we got paid on Friday, and Friday is considered the end of the work week so we should go shopping. Most of the stores keep us in this routine, because they change the weekly specials on Friday and ensure circulars came on Thursday. You might this it is a conspiracy to keep us in the zone, so we plan the weekly menus, make a list by store and items needed, cut the coupons, and then venture out to the wild shopping aisles at the local grocery stores. What would happen if you changed it up and went shopping on Monday or Tuesday? Guess what, the world would not end and we would not starve. You might find the stores are not as crowded; the shelves are fully stocked; produce is replenished and looks fresher; the store workers are more pleasant, and everything on special this week is available so no rain checks are needed.
So what would you do on Friday if you didn’t go grocery shopping? Let’s see, go to a movie, go out for dinner, and invite friends over for game night and make homemade pizza, or any number of other different things. Just because your mother did it does not mean you have to follow along. Plan something FUN!
