Okay, I know we have all heard expressions like; I need to have a 36 hour day, I never have enough time to finish everything I start, I just don’t have the time to (you fill in the blank). Well I am here to tell you that you are not alone! Wasn’t that a shocking revelation!
My question to you is why do you want to Stop the Clock? Do you really think that you will be able to run one more errand, finish the report that is due in an hour, or squeeze one more day into your vacation if you stop the clock? Well guess what you are only human and there are just 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, etc. If you are that frazzled to want to stop the clock well it is time to evaluate, re-structure and gain control of your time and your life.
The problem that a good many of us have, including myself, we try to squeeze too many things into our days with no breathing or wiggle room. Why? Who knows! Some people have a hard time saying no. Others hate to disappoint people and always want to be the person who you can count on. Well is it worth feeling so frustrated and stressed all the time? Do you think it might be time to:
- Evaluate what’s going on in your life; Are you working too many hours and spending too little time with your family? Are you being pulled in too many directions? Is it your husband, kids or parents? Do you have too many people or situations demanding your undivided attention? Once we know what is really going on we can then work to eliminate, adjust, or find reasonable solutions to everything.
- Re-structure what you can. There may be things that cannot be re-structured completely, so you might need to tweak things a bit to better accommodate your life situation at the present time. Whether it is cutting back hours at work or hiring someone to take care of other issues. Sometimes you have to divide to conquer.
- Gain Control is important, because if you do not feel in control then everything you do will reflect that. Be confident in your ability to figure out what needs to be fixed and fix it! If you continue to feel like you can do it all and not ask for help you will soon find out how wrong you are. Gain control means getting the help you need. If you need a reliable baby sitter for your children, an Adult Day Care Center for your Mother, or a concierge service to handle household and personal items then find a way to get this help.
Once you have your life back in control you will be your normal self-confident self again. You will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and not have to dread the hours counting down on your day and you will have time to enjoy yourself every again!
